Renshuu Republic was born in Texas in 2025, out of a simple frustration that anyone who trains seriously has felt at least once: gear built for performance theater instead of hard rounds.

What "Renshuu" Actually Means

練習 - Renshuu, is the Japanese word for deliberate practice. Not casual practice. Not showing up and going through the motions. The real kind. Patrick Hogan, founder and practitioner, spent years training Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu before starting Renshuu Republic. During that time, he wore a lot of gear. Most of it didn't survive the training it was supposed to support.

Seams that split mid-round. Rashguards that lost their stretch after a month of washing. Fabric that looked sharp in a product photo and fell apart under the actual demands of grip fighting, takedown entries, guard passes, and late-round scrambles.

The gear that existed was built for the highlight reel. Patrick needed gear built for the grind.

"If I don't trust it in my own training, it won't ever reach yours."
